About Me
My name is Cindy Campbell and I am 42 years old and I live in Georgetown, Texas. I have been teaching for over 24 years and consider piano teaching to be one thing I know that I do well. I have a family and my husband's name is Michael and we've been married for 19 years. We have a 15, 10 and 5 year old. Our 5 year old was adopted from China May, 2006 and is a wonderful blessing to our family and gives some of the best hugs!
I mostly teach children but enjoy teaching all ages and have experience with a wide range including adults! I took piano lessons starting at the age of 8 and continued up through high school. I was very active with the piano and music in our church and played for various ministries such as prison ministry and nursing home ministries. I was also a church pianist for 7 years. In addition, I've played for weddings and special occasions and still open to that. I also have experience as a choir pianist. In addition, in my experience, a few years ago I was given the opportunity to speak on the radio, Heaven 600 am, in an interview about music. I have also been a music teacher for a private school in Texas. I hold a Bachelors Degree from Towson University in Maryland.
I teach the traditional method where students actually learn to read notes and play. I've used a variety of courses and if your child or you has taken lessons already and wishes to continue in the same piano course I am able to continue in that course with no problem. I use Alfred, John Thompson's, Michael Aaron, Faber and Faber, or Schaum's piano courses for children. I use Wesley Schaum or Alfred if just beginning for teenagers and adults. And ALL beginners through advanced are welcome! It's never too late to learn! I also use a variety of supplemental books in teaching my students such as classical, pop, jazz, blues, Christian, favorites and Christmas music on each student's level. All methods are traditional and both widely favored and used. There are also yearly recitals (not required) which are not required but a lot of fun. These are usually held in the Spring.
My students say that I am a very patient and understanding teacher. If your child or you (the person taking lessons) has any learning disability of any sort it would be to your advantage to let me know. I don't have any problems teaching children with ADHD or dyslexia as I have experience with both!
